The People’s Market began in 2005, when Kyle LaMalfa organized a community yard sale, held near the Northwest Multipurpose Building (now the Northwest Recreation Center). The following year, the Market became a farmer/artisan market at Jordan Park, near the International Peace Gardens, located at 1060 South 900 West in Salt Lake City. There have been many changes over the years, including our name. The original name, People’s Market, covers over all the programs we have throughout the year. The farmers/artisans market was named the 9th West Farmers Market, as there were many who believed we were a store by our original name. It is confusing, but look at it as the People’s Market is the umbrella, and the 9th West Farmers Market is one of the items under the umbrella. We are one of the only non-profit farmers/artisan markets in the valley, and we were the first farmers market in the area to provide the ability for foodstamp recipients to make purchases of local, fresh food such as produce, eggs, honey, and more. We also host an annual seed swap / sale, holiday market, and more. We have been a good starter market for those who have never been a vendor. We are dedicated to our community, inviting local non-profit groups to join us when they can, and having special events throughout the year. Come on over and check us out. Live entertainment, food, shopping with our vendors, and many great people. How can you go wrong? The 2026 season will be our final season. We hope you’ll stop by and pay us a visit before we say goodbye.
